What is DTG printing?
DTG stands for Direct-to-Garment: a special textile printer applies your design with water-based inks straight into the fabric – similar to an inkjet print, but onto the shirt. Dark textiles are pre-treated first so the white underbase and colors sit cleanly.
Because it prints in the RGB color space, fine gradients, shading and photorealistic designs are possible. The ink sits in the fiber rather than on top – giving a soft feel and a natural print, perfect for high-quality cotton streetwear.
DTG, DTF or screen printing – when to use which?
DTG is the best choice for photorealistic, soft designs on cotton – fine detail, gradients and large streetwear prints up to 16×18″.
